Things I have learned this summer:
1. There is a time to be oblivious. Oblivion in moderation can be a beautiful thing. However, oblivion and stupidity are two very different things. Never, ever confuse the two.
2. Don’t let your boss scare you. Show your boss who’s boss.
3. Do not underestimate the power of wearing a pirate hat (bandanna). People will eventually refer to you as “the person wearing the bandanna” and old women will pinch your cheeks and tell you how beautiful and sun-kissed you are. It’s awesome. Note: wearing a pirate hat does not make you tan.
4. Listen to strange music. You will either retreat into your inner world or discover a world you never knew. Sometimes the two will melt into one. Sometimes they will be worlds apart.
5. You are the least of anyone’s concerns. Understanding this will free your mind from yourself.
6. The beauty of art is it doesn’t have to make sense.
7. Sit, smoke some weed, and just be. Afterward, you must work extra hard to make up for the money you spent buying drugs and the time you spent sitting and being, but it sure as hell was worth it.
8. Create something.
...more to come.
